History
Our story
The Govindanallur Community was established in 2002 to serve the pastoral and educational needs of the local community. The new convent was completed and blessed in 2005, marking the official beginning of the community. Since then, the sisters have continued their mission through education, pastoral accompaniment, and spiritual service, offering hope and support to the people.
Mission
Our mission
The mission of the Govindanallur Community is to proclaim the Gospel through education, pastoral care, and compassionate service. Inspired by the charism of the Sisters of Charity of St. Mary, the sisters accompany families, children, and young people in their human and spiritual development.
The community seeks to promote:
- Christian faith formation.
- Quality education.
- Family accompaniment.
- Community building.
- Moral and spiritual values.
Apostolic Ministry
How the sisters serve
Pastoral Ministry
- Visiting families and listening to their concerns and difficulties.
- Offering prayer, counselling, and spiritual encouragement.
- Accompanying families in moments of joy and suffering.
Anbiyam (Basic Christian Communities)
- Sharing the Word of God with families.
- Encouraging reflection, prayer, and Christian fellowship.
- Strengthening unity among community members.
Educational Ministry
- Teaching in the diocesan school.
- Helping students grow academically and personally.
- Promoting spoken English, moral values, discipline, and character formation.
Legion of Mary
- Guiding Legion of Mary groups for students and women.
- Encouraging prayer and service.
- Supporting visits to the sick and those in need.
Faith Formation
- Conducting Sunday catechism.
- Teaching the Bible, lives of saints, sacraments, and Christian values through creative methods such as storytelling, dramas, and activities.
Through these ministries, the sisters continue to share Christ's love and accompany the people of Govindanallur with dedication and compassion.
