History
Our story
Claretian Mercy Home, Azhagusirai, Madurai, was founded in 1986 to provide care and protection for abandoned and vulnerable children. In 2008, the Sisters of Charity of St. Mary were invited to collaborate in the administration of the home, and in 2011 the first community of sisters was established. Today, the sisters continue this mission in collaboration with the Claretian Missionaries, offering compassionate care to abandoned children and elderly persons.

Our mission
The mission of Claretian Mercy Home is to protect, nurture, and empower abandoned and vulnerable children while providing respectful care to senior citizens. The sisters strive to create a loving family environment where every child and elderly person experiences acceptance, dignity, security, and hope.

How the sisters serve
Care for Abandoned Children
The sisters provide:
- Food, clothing, shelter, and daily personal care.
- Medical assistance, nursing care, and health monitoring.
- Emotional support, affection, and a sense of belonging.
- Special care for children with disabilities and special needs.
- Education and formation in moral, social, and spiritual values.
- Life skills and preparation for responsible adulthood.
Care for Senior Citizens
The sisters accompany elderly persons through:
- Respectful and compassionate care.
- Assistance with daily activities.
- Encouragement through meaningful work according to their abilities, such as gardening, arts and crafts, and simple activities.
- Opportunities for prayer, recreation, and community sharing.
Through this ministry, Claretian Mercy Home continues to be a place of life, hope, and healing, witnessing the love of Christ through service to the most vulnerable.
